Important information for citizens previously served by the Bedford City General Registrar’s Office:
Voters formerly served by the Bedford City General Registrar’s Office should contact the Bedford County General Registrar, Barbara Gunter, for all services related to voter registration and elections effective July 1, 2013. The office is located in Bedford's Central Library, located at 321 North Bridge Street, Suite 200, Bedford, VA 24523. The telephone number is 540-586-7649. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Official Notice of Elections
This is an official notice of an election to be conducted in Bedford County on November 8, 2016.
The ballot will include electors for President, the US House of Representatives, two proposed constitutional amendments, a special election for Commonwealth’s Attorney, and, for residents of the Town of Bedford, members of Town Council. Information about the proposed constitutional amendments may be reviewed at

All regular polling places will be open. Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.

If you are not already registered to vote, Virginians must apply to register to vote (or update their registration name and current address) NO LATER THAN October 17, 2016, for participation in the November 8 General Election. . If you are currently registered to vote, you do not need to re-register unless you have made a change to your name or address, in which case you need to notify the Registrar in writing.

For registered voters who need to vote by absentee ballot, the Bedford County Voter Registration Office is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Absentee voting is also available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 29 and November 5. Applications requesting an absentee ballot by mail must be received by November 1, 2016.

All in-person voters are required to present acceptable photo identification. Voters who do not have an acceptable form of photo identification may obtain a free Virginia Voter Photo Identification Card through any local Voter Registration Office.
