How to Register | Absentee Voting | Electoral Officials

Important information for citizens previously served by the Bedford City General Registrarís Office:
Voters formerly served by the Bedford City General Registrarís Office should contact the Bedford County General Registrar, Barbara Gunter, for all services related to voter registration and elections effective July 1, 2013. The office is located in the County Administration Building at 122 E Main Street, Bedford, VA 24523. The telephone number is 540-586-7649. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

A Republican Party Primary will be conducted on June 14, 2016, to select the Republican candidate for US House of Representatives in the 6th Congressional District
Only voting locations in the 6th Congressional District will be open. Bedford County polling places participating in this primary include New London Academy, Forest Youth Athletic Association, Forest Elementary School, Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, Knights of Columbus Building, St. Paul Baptist Church, Big Island Elementary School, Sedalia Center, Suck Spring Baptist Church, Boonsboro Elementary School, Boonsboro Ruritan Club, and Montvale Elementary School. Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.

If you are not already registered to vote, Virginians must apply to register to vote (or update their registration name and current address) NO LATER THAN May 23, 2016, for participation in the June 14 Primary Election. . If you are currently registered to vote, you do not need to re-register unless you have made a change to your name or address, in which case you need to notify the Registrar in writing.

For registered voters who need to vote by absentee ballot, the Bedford County Voter Registration Office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Absentee voting is also available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016. Applications requesting an absentee ballot by mail must be received by June 7, 2016.

All in-person voters are required to present acceptable photo identification. Voters who do not have an acceptable form of photo identification may obtain a free Virginia Voter Photo Identification Card through any local Voter Registration Office.
