Spectacular Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia's largest lake, sprawls over 40 miles in length and is 20,600 acres in area with 500 miles of shoreline, defining the southern boundary of Bedford County. This is where the blockbuster movie "What About Bob" was filmed, and is one of the most popular destinations in all of Virginia. Countless lakefront homes dot the shorline and boating and other watersport activity is heavy. The Bedford County Sheriff's Office works hard to ensure safety for all who wish to enjoy Smith Mountain Lake. |
