The Public Information office issues news advisories and releases, prepares and oversees printing and distribution of publications, addresses questions from the press and the public and from County employees and officials, writes speeches or provides talking points for officials when they address the public or talk to the media organizes special events such as ground-breaking or ribbon-cutting ceremonies.

In addition, the Public Information Office implements and maintains the Bedford County Website.

The Public Information Office serves as legislative liaison for the Board of Supervisors, compiling the legislative program for Board approval and communicating the Board's wishes to legislators. When the General Assembly is in session the legislative liaison monitors the status of bills of interest to Bedford County.
