Bedford County's Internet-based GIS (Geographical Information Systems) is available to view online. A GIS is a sophisticated computer-based system that has the capability to retrieve, store, manage, analyze and apply this spacial information in making faster, better and more informed decisions. This online GIS application allows the viewer to search, query, display and print particular spatial and attribute data of the county.
Current layers of data for the county include tax parcels, streets, addresses, zoning, aerial photography and topography. As the county's GIS matures, we will be adding more data layers and attribute information.
Bedford County's GIS Department welcomes input from its citizens about our Web-based GIS, we intend this project to benefit both employees of the county AND its citizens. Questions/comments/suggestions can be sent to onlineGIS@co.bedford.va.us or to the GIS office, 587-5678.
