Bedford County Parks & Recreation will offer two decorative painting classes for beginners at the Old County Nursing Home located on Falling Creek Rd. The first class will be Saturday, March 13 at 10:00 a.m. and another class will be on Thursday, March 18 at 1:00 P.M. Each class is approximately 2.5 hours long. You will paint a make-it, take-it project. All supplies will be furnished. Cost per class is $15.00. Instructor is Linda Exley. Minimum number for class is 6 and maximum is 12. Bedford County Parks & Recreation will sponsor a trip to the Cheese Shop in Stuarts Draft on Friday, March 19, 2010. The bus will depart at 8:00 a.m. from the county recreation building. Cost per person is $20.00 which includes your transportation on the county bus and lunch buffet at the Wood Grill in Harrisonburg. Other stops will include the Little Debbie Outlet, Milmont Nursery (for those spring plants) and the Shenandoah Farmers Market. Fee must accompany registration. Bedford City and County Parks & Recreation will sponsor our annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the following locations: Liberty Lake Park, Moneta Elementary, Montvale Rec Center, Big Island Elementary, Body Camp Elementary, Forest Youth Athletic Association (Jump Park) and Huddleston Ruritan Field. Rain date is Sunday, March 28 at 2:00 P.M. Bring a basket or bag to collect your eggs in. Children will be put in age appropriate groups. This event is FREE!

A cruel, manipulative London husband tries to make his sensitive wife believe that her sanity is disintegrating. The plot is thickened by bigamy, mysterious footfalls, lost rubies and a persistent policeman. Price per person is $15.00 and includes transportation on the county recreation bus and your show ticket. We will go for dinner after the show (on your own). Bedford County Parks & Rec is offering a 6-day Bahamas Cruise from Norfolk, VA. on the Carnival Glory. Day 3 & 4 will be docked in Nassau and day 5 will be in Freeport. Deposit of $50 per person is due by January 15, 2010; 2nd deposit of $250 per person is due by May 1, 2010 and balance is due by July 20, 2010. Price per person is an inside cabin $684; oceanview cabin is $804 and a balcony is $1,004. Prices are based on double occupancy. Includes port charges and taxes. Does not include gratuities or insurance. We must have 30 people for this trip to go as an escorted cruise and have a bus to and from the port. Arrangements are by Travel Lovers in Lynchburg. If you enjoy singing and having a fun time, then join our group (50 plus age)on Monday mornings at 10:00 a.m. at Thaxton Baptist Church for practice. We sing old favorites from the big band era and even before that. If you're over fifty, you'll certainly know a lot of the songs. You do not have to read music or be a great singer. We just blend together and it is beautiful. Also, we are looking for folks who play a musical instrument. We perform at local nursing homes, senior groups, local events, etc. There is no fee to join. We are the "Silver Notes". Our director is Mrs. Gail St.Clair.

Tai Chi is fun and easy to learn. Anyone from 9-90 can enjoy this activity. It is an exercise consisting of slow, relaxed movements that help develop internal and external balance and harmony. Studies have shown that Tai Chi can improve circulation and flexibility, build muscle strength, improve balance, increase fitness level, relax the body and clear the mind. Regular practice of Tai Chi will slowly, yet measurably, improve your overall fitness and harmony. Join instructor, Steve Garay and the Bedford County Parks and Recreation Department while we have fun and get fit and healthy. Cost is $30.00 per month per person or $50.00 per couple.
